Fully comp insurance 'may not be as it seems'
Fully comp insurance 'may not be as it seems'
Motorists have been urged to shop around before selecting a fully comprehensive car insurance policy.
According to price comparison website Moneysupermarket.com, fully comp might sound like everything is covered, but there are actually clear variances in the many policies out there using this term.
Furthermore, price is not always the best indicator, as some expensive policies carry more exclusions than cheaper ones.
Drivers are therefore urged to take their time checking the small print of each policy and making comparisons.
Pete Harrison, car insurance expert at MoneySupermarket, said that exclusions and caveats are increasingly common in fully comp policies.
"It is essential to consider the extra costs involved too, as you may end up paying more for additions such as legal cover, meaning that while a policy may seem like the cheapest option at a glance, once you have bolted on any cover additions, it may end up being more expensive than alternatives," he said.
