Brits consider their used car retrofit options
More than three-quarters of British motorists would consider retrofitting their used cars in some way in order to save money.
According to research from the Green Car website, many Brits are struggling to find the money to keep up with their fuel costs, but also cannot afford to trade their used car in for a newer, more efficient model.
As a result, 78 per cent of those polled said they would consider retrofitting a hybrid or electric system in their current vehicle to try and cut their fuel costs.
"Of course, modifications to improve fuel economy can be much milder than this and can include things such as removing factory-fitted roof racks, adding a belly pan or covering the wheels with smooth covers," she said.
The Institute of Advanced Motorists claims that improved driving techniques - such as accelerating more gradually and driving at steady speeds - can also help motorists to reduce their fuel costs.
