Audi showcases new models before Le Mans race

Audi showcases new models before Le Mans race

The Audi cars that took part in the Le Mans 24 Hours race at the weekend were not the only examples of the German manufacturer's expertise on display to fans.

Before the race, the marque took the opportunity to show off the latest Audi cars in its range, showing their handling abilities around the corners of the famous track.

Audi cars included in the showcase were the new e-tron Spyder electric concept car and the Audi Q5 hybrid Quattro, which will be available to buy before the end of the year.

The event also saw the debut of the Audi R8 GT Spyder, with former Le Mans winner Marco Werner putting it through its paces on the circuit.

With a top speed of 197mph and 560bhp propelling it from 0-62mph in just 3.8 seconds, Audi says that this version of the R8 is the most "extreme" model yet.

Just 333 of the cars are being worldwide, with 66 coming to the UK.
